DESCRIPTION:Time & Location\n\n\nMay 09\, 2026\, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM \nBloomington\, 200 N Main St\, Bloomington\, IL 61701\, USA \n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\nSince 2021\, the Normal Community High School Experimental Ensemble has provided students with the opportunity to learn about and perform a variety of musical and sonic traditions\, including free improvisation\, electroacoustic performance\, and sound installations. \nStudents will play arrangements of American classics and improvisations with faculty members Stefen Robinson and Zachary Sargent and guest artists. \n~~~~~~ \nAll pt.fwd concerts are free and open to the public.  \npt.fwd is an independent\, artist-run 501c3 non-profit that organizes contemporary music and sonic arts performances in Bloomington-Normal\, Illinois. \npt.fwd’s mission is to celebrate the communal experience of coming together to listen to powerful new sonic art. In partnership with the McLean County Museum of History and other local venues\, pt.fwd promotes new work by local and regional artists in a historic\, acoustically curious setting. \nwww.ptfwd.org

DESCRIPTION:Edward Breitweiser is an Illinois-based artist\, musician\, electronic instrument builder\, and writer who creates moments of sonic life. Drawing inspiration from the experimental and electronic music traditions\, the uncanny potential of new (and obsolete) technology\,  and the landscape and pace of the American Midwest\, Breitweiser combines particulars (including analog and digital synthesizers\, custom software\, handmade electronics\, audio/visual signals\, text\, network and systems models\, performative activities\, community organizing) to produce systems that arise from the emergent\, nonlinear interactions of all components at once. \n\n\nRecent projects have blended early synthesizers\, digital video loops\, and probibalistic open-form compositions to create multimedia systems which are positioned somewhere between drone\, minimalism\, and structural chaos. Breitweiser is the founder and Executive Director of pt.fwd (@pt.fwd)\, a contemporary music and sonic arts performance series featuring new work by local and regional artists in Bloomington-Normal\, Illinois (USA). Breitweiser is an Instructional Assistant Professor of Creative Technologies at Illinois State University (Normal\, IL).
